Tuesday, August 17: HOME STRETCH!
Monday, August 16: You know when you see the Art Starts logo that the whole ‘they sleep we grind’ progress has kicked in.
Some Quotes from inspirational people, authors and activist that I thought would be appropriate for our mural…
“To Read without recletcing is like eating without digesting” - Edmund Burke
“The worth of a book is to be measured by what you can carry away from it” - James Bryce
” A good book has no ending” - R. D. Cumming
“Books had instant replay long before televised sports” - Bern Williams
“Books that inspire us to be greater people are the greatest books people can read no matter your ethnicity or your creed” —Quentin V.
Thursday, August 12th: Crunch time! Sarah Miller-Garvin of the Toronto Arts Council’s Neighbourhood Arts Network came by to video our progress on the mural. She’s been checking out other cool community art projects that you can check out at the Toronto Arts Council’s Youtube channel.
Meanwhile, Josh and the team have been HARD AT WORK on the mural. The “blue foxglove” background shade has been now refined courtesy of Narvardo, while Katherine has been fine-tuning the shading on one of her pieces. Meanwhile, Quentin and Andy have been cutting the last stencils out.

Eighth Planet Groundings: Quentin Vercetty discusses the “Knowledge is Power” mural (yes! we have a name now!).
Wednesday, August 11th: Check the pillars! You sleep, we grind.
Tuesday, August 10th — V. IMPORTANT UPDATE: We settled upon a “blue foxglove” shade from Rotblott’s for the retaining wall back-drop. (Q thinks it’s too light though. We’ll see about that!)
As you can see, we’ve begun our pillar action. Thirteen pillars will feature graphic stencil portraits of community members we sought out to inspire the transient Yorkdale community. Do you like?
